JLPT Study Tracker — Google Sheets Template
I've been building and refining this for about six months. It's now at the point where I'm comfortable sharing it. Here's what it does.
Structure
The template has five sheets:
1. Weekly Log
Enter your study hours by category each day. Categories: Grammar, Vocabulary (Anki), Kanji, Reading, Listening, Mock Tests, Other.
Auto-calculates: daily total, weekly total, rolling 4-week average, pace vs. your target (you set the weekly hour goal in a config cell).
2. Vocab Progress
Track your Anki deck status week by week: total cards, mature cards, retention rate, new cards added. The retention column color-codes automatically — green above 90%, yellow 85–90%, red below 85%.
3. Mock Score History
Log each practice test: date, platform, level, section scores, total score, and notes. Calculates the delta from your previous attempt per section.
This is essentially the comparison feature that doesn't exist natively on testing platforms yet. (See the other thread.)
4. Kanji Tracker
Simple checklist of N4/N5 kanji grouped by JLPT level. Check them off as you hit active recall. Progress bar auto-updates.
5. Dashboard
One-page summary of everything: study hours this week vs. last week, vocabulary retention, mock score trend line, days until target exam date (you set this), estimated readiness percentage (rough heuristic, take it with salt).
How to get it
I'm sharing via Google Sheets with view access. Search for it or DM me and I'll drop the link. I ask only that you don't sell it — free is free.
Built for N4 prep but the structure works for any level. Let me know if you find bugs or want features added.
