December JLPT 2025 — Post-Exam Megathread 📝

Okay, it's over. We survived. Drop your reactions here — all levels welcome.

I'll go first: I sat N4 this morning and honestly? Tough but fair. The grammar section had a few curveballs but nothing that felt unfair. What surprised me most was the listening — way better paced than the July sitting. The gaps between questions felt more reasonable, no more scrambling to read the next prompt while the audio's already running.

Vocab section was pretty standard N4 fare. Reading was manageable if you kept moving and didn't get stuck on any single passage.

Overall I'm cautiously optimistic. Results won't be out until late January but I feel okay about it.

Drop your level, how it went, anything that surprised you. Good, bad, ugly — it's all valid here. We've been studying for months, we all deserve to decompress a little.

N4 estuvo difícil pero creo que pasé, la neta. El reading me fue mejor esta vez — en julio me trabé en la segunda lectura larga y perdí tiempo. Hoy me forcé a seguir aunque no entendiera todo. El listening también estuvo mejor que lo esperado. Ahora a esperar resultados y tratar de no obsesionarme jajaja. ¡Ánimo a todos!

No sé qué decir. Fue diferente a las otras tres veces. No puedo decir si fue más fácil o más difícil, solo... diferente. Algunas preguntas de gramatica que esperaba ver no estaban, y apareció vocabulario que no había visto en los simulacros. Pero tampoco salí sintiéndome destrozado como en julio. Capaz que sí esta vez. No quiero ilusionarme demasiado pero... capaz que sí.

N3 beta exam done. Hard but doable — I would say harder than N4 but in a qualitatively different way, less rote memorization and more actual comprehension. A few questions felt genuinely new, not just variations on standard JLPT patterns. The reading passages in particular had structures I had not seen in the simulator yet, which is useful feedback. Overall roughly what I expected difficulty-wise. Waiting to see how the beta scoring compares to the real N3 rubric.

N5 segundo intento. Esta vez sí lo sentí diferente — más tranquilo, más seguro. El vocabulario lo tenía, el kanji también. El listening me hizo dudar en dos preguntas pero creo que las acerté igual. Creo que esta vez sí. Por fin.

I... think I passed? I am genuinely scared to say it out loud but — the reading section felt easier this time. Not easy, but like I actually understood what I was reading instead of guessing at the meaning. Fourth attempt and this is the first time I have walked out without immediately knowing which questions I got wrong. Maybe that means nothing. Maybe it means everything. January results cannot come fast enough.
